Types of Consultants

There are as many environmental consultant services as there are environmental consultants

In general an environmental consultant helps an organisation to either comply with a specific piece of planning or permit regulation. Or, it helps an organisation understand it’s environmental impacts on the external world. Think energy use, waste production etc. There are other consultants that help with PR and corporate social responsibility and help to provide a positive external face to a particular business for communication reasons such as wanting to impress clients, banks or stakeholders.

Types Of Consultants

Ecologists – study natural fauna and flora – work predominantly with housebuilders and developers
Hydrologists – work on studying water flows, aquifers and underground water stata – work mainly with planners and water companies
Energy consultants – work on energy use and minimisation – mainly large industrial businesses, energy intensive operations
Contaminated land specialists – work on clearing contaminated sites and risk assessments affecting development
Due Diligence consultants – work with M&A activity or finance houses. Think one large company buying the other and wanting to know what liabilities exist in the land/buildings it is acquiring
Air Quality consultants -work with large air emitters, factories, roadworks, planners to ascertain air quality levels
Noise consultants – work with industrial facilities and planners on measuring and reducing noise levels
CSR – corporate social responsibility – work with FTSE listed companies to improve PR
Asbestos consultants – complete risk assessments and remove asbestos in buildings
Permit consultants – that is what we do – we work with the Environment Agency and put permit applications together for industrial clients

Environmental Consultant Services

We can provide many of the services that are required for a permit application. Because we have been in the industry for over 30 years, we have a good network of associates listed above that we can call on for any type of permit or planning related work.

We regularly visit waste and industrial sites and evaluate the potential for running a waste or other regulated business at that particular location. If we require the services of another associate we tend to get these to work with you direct so that we provide a comprehensive consultancy service.
